No-Cost USGBC continuing education units
The recent transition for LEED Accredited Professionals resulted in a requirement to pursue continuing education credits in order to maintain this accreditation through their Credential Maintenance Program. For those with a speciality, 30 hours in specific categories are required. These classes have been slow in development, and most courses offered by the USGBC or GBCI often come at a high price.
Below are some options for learning units that fulfill the various credit types required at no cost:
- Mc-Graw Hill Construction - Publishers of several magazines directed at the construction industry, GBCI learning units are plentiful at this site.
- Hanley Wood University - Another magazine publisher that offers a handful of GBCI CMP units over the web.
- Green Exam Prep curates links to free courses from several providers.
- Trane offers four courses of LEED-specific material, which allows one to fulfill the 6 required hours for free (this is one of the more difficult types of course material to find.)
The spreadsheet provided here lays out a strategy for fulfilling all the CEU requirments at no cost, and was a great help in planning out which category to slot these courses into.
