Who we are, what we do.

Archifilter brings together information and suggestions for improving your architectural practice (small or large) by incorporating technology in appropriate and effective ways.  Focusing on the effective integration of technology into the business of architecture, Archifilter reviews and recommends new applications, provides how-tos and discusses the reasoning behind the design process.

A Brief Rant / Manifesto

Too often in recent history architects have been sidelined, drawing pretty pictures and avoiding the risks of construction while builders and project managers increase their productivity and profitability while leaving the liability with the licensed professional.  Architecture has become the realm of star designers and lost its roots as a service profession.  Professional organizations have been of little assistance in fighting the tide of sycophantic blathering over “starchitects” and the denigration of architecture’s ability to help heal.

We seek to change that, and encourage architects of any size and description to embrace the benefits of technology in ways that make them more productive, more profitable, and increasingly transparent and communicative to the clients and the communities they serve.

Hulme, LEED AP -  California Architect License (C32413).  At my current employer, I work to integrate BIM tools and sustainable design strategies into the architectural projects I design and see through construction.  An inveterate technophile and web geek, I am an advocate for open source tech anywhere I can suggest it.  I have a deep love of architecture and want to see its vision expanded, its processes improved and its stature regained.
